Days 13 – 15 (The Gang’s Western Trip)

Wednesday, October 10, 2007, Day 13

We woke up early and were at the Ford Garage in Ogden, Utah by 7:30. They confirmed it was the fuel pump but said they did not have the part. Luckily,
they were able to locate one but wouldn’t get it until 12:00. They
offered to drop us off at a nearby mall and we took them up on it.
  Within
a 1/2 hour of being in the mall, Bob and Denny had RV withdrawal and
decided to walk back to the garage and wait with their baby.
  Dennis
was also having computer withdrawal and they had wireless internet at
the garage. Paula and I kept busy at the mall until about 12:00 when we
got a call from “the boys” asking if we wanted to meet them someplace
for lunch.
We were told to eat up because as soon as we got the RV back they wanted to make up some time. After lunch Paula and I went back to the mall and they returned to the garage. The RV wasn’t ready until 5 pm. Bob and Denny drove for another 4 hours to get us to Beaver, Utah for the night.

Denny and Bob now have set up down to a science and can do it in about 10 minutes – LESW – level, electric, sewer, and water.<span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\> </font\></span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\>It only took about 2 weeks to get that down but then again this is a senior citizen rig.</font\><span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\> </font\></span\></span\></div\><div\><span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\> </font\></span\></div\><div\><span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\>Just as we got into bed for the night, the LP gas leak detector went off.</font\><span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\> </font\></span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\>I jumped out of bed, opened the door, hit the mute button.</font\><span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\> </font\></span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\>Bob got up and went through the routine again and even went outside and shut off the LP tank.</font\><span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\> </font\></span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\>That still didn’t stop the alarm. //–> It only took about 2 weeks to get that down but then again this is a senior citizen rig.

Just as we got into bed for the night, the LP gas leak detector went off. I jumped out of bed, opened the door, hit the mute button. Bob got up and went through the routine again and even went outside and shut off the LP tank. That
still didn’t stop the alarm. We got out the manuals and Bob proceeded
to stand at the stove in his boxer shorts reading the manual out loud.
He said “I don’t know what to do next. What do you think Denny?” Denny’s response (from the bed) – “I’m thinking!”. Paula finally said “well get down and do something.” They read that it could be a low battery in the smoke detector or CO2 detector. They took the batteries out of both but the damn thing still went off every 10 minutes. Finally, Denny read that any fumes could set it off. <span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\> </font\></span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\>They put a fan on the floor with a vent open to ventilate the LP detector.</font\><span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\> </font\></span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\>Denny decided to stay up in the chair with his hoodie and boxer shorts (are you doing a visual?) to be sure the alarm would not go off again.</font\><span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\> </font\></span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\>He finally went to bed at 2:00 am – hoodie and all. </font\></span\></div\><div\><span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\> </font\></span\></div\><div\><span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\>Thursday, October 11th</span\></font\>, Day 14</font\></span\></div\><div\><span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\> </font\></span\></div\><div\><span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\>In the morning when Bob went to pay, he met several people who had electrical problems all night long.</font\><span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\> </font\></span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\>We shared stories and the owner said “Oh yeah, we have had some problems with our new electrical system in the camp.</font\><span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\> </font\></span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\>We haven’t worked all the bugs out yet!”</font\><span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\> </font\></span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\>Obviously we had a lot of bugs at our site. </font\></span\></div\><div\><span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\> </font\></span\></div\><div\><span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\>We drove to Bryce Cannon for some site seeing.</font\><span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\> </font\></span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\>When we got to the entrance, (Bob was driving) the guy said, “I don’t want to offend you but are you by any chance a senior citizen?”</font\><span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\> </font\></span\><font face=\”Times New Roman\”\>We all said yes but Denny was the only one old enough to get us a senior citizen park pass.”,1]

//–>They decided it was the fumes from the gas that spilled out when they dropped the gas tank to change the fuel pump. They put a fan on the floor with a vent open to ventilate the LP detector. Denny
decided to stay up in the chair with his hoodie and boxer shorts (are
you doing a visual?) to be sure the alarm would not go off again.
He finally went to bed at 2:00 am – hoodie and all.

Thursday, October 11th, Day 14

In the morning when Bob went to pay, he met several people who had electrical problems all night long. We shared stories and the owner said “Oh yeah, we have had some problems with our new electrical system in the camp. We haven’t worked all the bugs out yet!” Obviously we had a lot of bugs at our site.

We drove to Bryce Cannon for some site seeing. When
we got to the entrance, (Bob was driving) the guy said, “I don’t want
to offend you but are you by any chance a senior citizen?”

Thanks Denny! The canyon was awesome. I can’t explain how gorgeous the area was – including the drive to and from the canyon.

Bob and Denny drove until about 7:30 to Cameron, Arizona where we camped for the night. Bob was excited because we got a full hook-up for $14.00 (with a AAA discount). I am happy to report that we didn’t have any problems with alarms going off.

Happy Anniversary – we have been “on the road” for two weeks and we still like each other. Actually, we have been having a wonderful time - doing a lot of laughing. We have been very blessed.
