Day 5, October 2, 2007 (The Gang’s Western Trip)
Today it seemed like all we did is drive, drive, drive and bounce through the wind and rain. There were 40 mile per hour winds hitting us sideways. The guys really had to fight the wind. For some reason, we didn’t have any DC power. The RV has two auxillary batteries that should run the lights when we are not connected to power. We had called back to Suncoast and they in turn were going to call Fleetwood who makes this RV. By the end of the day we realized that although the refrigerator runs on propane while driving, it also uses some DC power so that wasn’t working while driving either. We are waiting to hear from Suncoast to find out if there is some switch we don’t know about.
We stopped for for the night in Mitchell, South Dakota at a KOA. All of a sudden we heard a beeping and Bob got really excited and said, “I have a message – I have to check my phone.” It was his weekly text message from the Sheriff’s dept. After he checked his text message he proudly announced that he had no missed calls, no voice mail messages, and no recent calls.
During then night, Bob got up to go to the bathroom. The “bedroom” is a step up/down and so is the bathroom. Bob feel out of both! He must have a pretty foggy brain at night because he just doesn’t seem to remember that.
