Area and Perimeter Diagrams - from mind to pencil to web site

One of my graduate students, Lia Navone, has shown me another way to share learning. Lia posted examples, on her web site, of how to calculate area and perimeter for her students.

She did not have to do anything difficult or that could not be learned in 10 minutes.

She did have to have to think about her students.

She may have scanned the files or used a camera - I did not ask.

She did have to have a classroom web site - I recommend MyTeacherPages.com

I love what she did and am going to try to follow her lead in the future. Here is what she did.

  1. She demonstrated what one has to do to solve an area and perimeter problem when the sides are not of equal length.
    1. She created an area and perimeter problem on paper.
    2. She wrote on the paper to show how she solved the problems.
    3. And uploaded the drawings to her teacher web site.
