My Summer Vacation, Day #1
I remember my second grade teacher, Mrs. Heismann asking us to write about our summer vacation. (this was in 1974, in St. Mary’s School, Dansville, New York). We wrote it on paper and I am sure that she had to use quite a bit of imagination to envision what we wrote. Today’s child can blog about their vacation, and that is what I am going to do this week.
I arrived on the Outer Banks of North Carolina yesterday and quickly went to the beach. The ocean water was warm and refreshing, since the summer air was scorching. My family and I visited the Bodie Island Lighthouse, the Cape Hatteras National Seashore and the Wright Brothers National Monument. My daughter Brooke and I walked to the top of a hill and looked out over the flight line of the first powered flight – what a thrill. We concluded the day by visiting the beach at Corolla, NC and spying on ghost crabs – the kids loved finding them in the dark. The ocean is my soul!
