The Monster Exchange Project

The Monster Exchange Project is an Internet project that has been around for a few years.  I am in the middle of creating a Unit Plan on a PBWiki (so I can add teacher collaborators later). I would like to use this project in the with the district I currently work for and with my graduate students.

Essentially the Project goes like this:

  1. Students draw pictures of monsters
  2. They write (on paper or the computer) descriptions of their monsters
  3. Teachers register with the Monster Exchange Gallery and are partnered with another school across the country.
  4. Teachers post their student’s descriptions to the web so that their partner school can get access to them
    1. The partner school does the same thing
  5. Students draw monsters based on the descriptions and then both schools upload the re-drawn pictures, the originals and the descriptions to the Monster Exchange Gallery

The better the description, the better the redrawn picture!

Here is the Unit Plan.
