HS Learning Center Project
The foundation for the HS Learning Center project has been laid. Wikispaces is the media that is being used so that others, besides my friend Nicole Giambra - TechforLearning Blog - can eventually contribute.
Here is the big picture: (I have to use a bulleted list - it helps me think)
- The Learning Center curricularizes web resources by three criteria:
- Department
- Course
- Unit in Course
- Using Del.icio.us, teachers can bookmark resources that apply to a unit in their curriculum
- Using pre-determined del.icio.us tags (unit names of courses), teachers can bookmark and tag web resources that they would use for instruction and assessment in their courses.
- These web resources would “appear” in a dynamically generated list on a wikispace page
- Benefits
- Web Resources are organized
- Web Resources are chosen by teachers because they work and have been used
- A huge bank of resources is now available at the fingertips of teachers
- We made the database and we did not have to buy it
- STUDENTS HAVE ACCESS TO RESOURCES ACROSS CURRICULAR AREAS
- Parents will have a clearer picture of what their kids are learning
- The learning center is “a kind of” curriculum map (forgive the slang)
Here is a link to the beginning - June 13, 2007 - this is very crude, VERY crude
If you see a web resource that can be used for HS students, use the for:btcactus tag and it will come to me.
When the center is ready to be used, I will post more detailed instructions.
