New York City – from the NJ Turnpike, I95 and Beyond…

Ah, the New Jersey Turnpike. my wife Sue says to me – you gotta play a Manhattan song. So, in 2 seconds I type in Manhattan and get Mel Torme.  Try that with a stack of CDs or a record ;-)

Ramblings while driving ….
I miss the twin towers, the skyline is still impressive though – the Empire State Building is now the focal point for me.  Who is buried in the Meadowlands?

I had a great time in Little Italy about 10 years ago.
Bryce says..as we pass the Meadowland, “It smells like dead fish.”

There is Giant’s Stadium – what are they building next to it?

My kids tore off my EZPass and I have to keep holding it in place.

Bryce really wants to cross the George Washington Bridge but instead he is experiencing a traffic jam due to volume  – Oh, great he exclaims.  The first NYC jam for him – I have been in many.

I have Google, MapQuest and YAHOO maps open.  I like  Yahoo the best – they have maps  for each set of directions.

Sue is questioning my bro-in-law’s GPS system?  Shouldn’t we just trust technology ;-)

I have 20 wireless signals blasting me and none are open – I am near the GW Bridge now – 14:29 PM – but I can’t jump on – people are getting smarter.

14:34 PM – I am near Jerome Avenue – even the apartments have cool architecture – where is Jerome Ave – the Bronx? I know that I am on the Cross-Bronx Expressway.

A truck has broken down and the guy is on a cell…what was life like before the cell phone?  I am glad that we live in a world where technology can be very helpful.

I just saw a sign for my favorite bridge – the Throg’s Neck (what is a Throg?)

How about a little Jungleland – Springsteen – while near NJ and NY, NY?

I am going to buy a GPS system – my maps stink and Kevin’s GPS is working great. So do we teach kids how to read a map or how to read a Garwin or Tom-Tom?

I am here – New Rochelle..now on to Carmel, NY

I really relied on a GPS to get me around Miami when we went. It worked very well. We did not use any other maps. As long as we had the address we were good to go. We considered getting GPS in our next year. I hope we would travel enough to use it.:)
